Scripture for real life

WHEN YOU
FEEL…

Bible verses for the moments you actually live in — anxious, alone, ashamed, tempted, grieving — each with a short prayer and somewhere to go next. Pick what's true for you right now.

When you feel

Anxious

Anxiety is not a sign that you lack faith. It's a signal to bring everything to the One who can carry it.

  • Don't be anxious about anything; in everything pray, with thanksgiving — and God's peace, beyond understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ.

    Philippians 4:6–7
  • Throw all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.

    1 Peter 5:7
  • Don't worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.

    Matthew 6:34

Pray

Father, I give You what I've been carrying. Guard my heart and mind with Your peace today.

When you feel

Afraid

Fear tells you you're on your own. God's most repeated command is “do not fear” — because He is with you.

  • Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, help you, and hold you up.

    Isaiah 41:10
  • When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.

    Psalm 56:3
  • Be strong and courageous. Don't be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

    Joshua 1:9

Pray

Lord, I'm afraid. I choose to trust You right now. Hold me up with Your hand.

When you feel

Alone

Loneliness is real pain. God sees it — and He never designed you to walk through life by yourself.

  • Be strong and courageous — the Lord your God goes with you. He will never leave you or forsake you.

    Deuteronomy 31:6
  • God sets the lonely in families.

    Psalm 68:6
  • Jesus promises: I am with you always, to the end of the age.

    Matthew 28:20

Pray

Jesus, You are with me right now. Lead me to people who will walk with me, and help me take the first step toward them.

When you feel

Ashamed

Shame says you are what you did. The gospel says you are who Jesus made you.

  • There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

    Romans 8:1
  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

    1 John 1:9
  • Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

    Psalm 34:5

Pray

Father, I bring this into the light. Thank You that in Jesus I am forgiven and clean. I receive it.

When you feel

Tempted

Temptation isn't sin. It's a fork in the road — and God always marks a way out.

  • No temptation has seized you that isn't common to everyone. God is faithful: He won't let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, and He will provide the way out.

    1 Corinthians 10:13
  • Jesus was tempted in every way we are, yet without sin — so come boldly to His throne for mercy and help when you need it.

    Hebrews 4:15–16
  • Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

    James 4:7

Pray

Jesus, You know exactly what this feels like. Show me the way out, and give me strength to take it right now.

When you feel

Weary

Exhaustion isn't weakness. Jesus doesn't scold tired people; He invites them.

  • Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

    Matthew 11:28–30
  • Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength; they will run and not grow weary, walk and not faint.

    Isaiah 40:31
  • It's in vain to rise early and stay up late, toiling anxiously — He gives sleep to those He loves.

    Psalm 127:2

Pray

Jesus, I'm tired. I come to You for the rest You promised. Teach me to stop and trust You with what I can't finish.

When you feel

Grieving

Grief is love with nowhere to go. God doesn't rush you through it. He comes close in it.

  • The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

    Psalm 34:18
  • Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

    Matthew 5:4
  • He will wipe away every tear. Death, mourning, crying and pain will be no more.

    Revelation 21:4

Pray

Lord, my heart is broken. Be near to me, as You promised. Hold what I can't hold.

When you feel

Hurt or angry

Anger at a real wrong isn't the problem. What you do with it next is.

  • Be angry and do not sin. Don't let the sun go down on your anger, and give the devil no foothold.

    Ephesians 4:26–27
  • Bear with one another and forgive each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

    Colossians 3:13
  • Be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger — human anger doesn't produce the righteousness God wants.

    James 1:19–20

Pray

Father, You saw what happened. I hand it to You. Help me not to sin in my anger, and begin to make me able to forgive.

When you feel

Far from God

Distance is usually felt before it's true. And the way back is shorter than you think.

  • Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

    James 4:8
  • While the son was still a long way off, his father saw him, was filled with compassion, ran to him and embraced him.

    Luke 15:20
  • You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.

    Jeremiah 29:13

Pray

Father, I've drifted. I'm turning back toward You now. Thank You for running to meet me.

When you feel

Unsure what to do

You don't need the whole map. You need the next step and the One who knows the way.

  • Trust the Lord with all your heart and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

    Proverbs 3:5–6
  • If any of you lacks wisdom, ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

    James 1:5
  • I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye on you.

    Psalm 32:8

Pray

Lord, I don't know what to do. I'm asking You for wisdom, and I trust You to show me the next step.

When you feel

Worried about money

Money pressure is real. God doesn't dismiss it — He reorders it.

  • Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

    Matthew 6:33
  • My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

    Philippians 4:19
  • Keep your life free from the love of money and be content with what you have — for He has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.

    Hebrews 13:5

Pray

Father, You know what I need. I put Your kingdom first today, and I trust You to provide. Show me how to be faithful with what I have.

When you feel

Hopeless

If everything feels dark right now, you are not the first, and you are not beyond God's reach.

  • Why are you cast down, my soul? Hope in God — I will yet praise Him, my salvation and my God.

    Psalm 42:11
  • The Lord's steadfast love never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning.

    Lamentations 3:22–23
  • May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

    Romans 15:13

Pray

God, I can't see the way forward. Hold on to me when I can't hold on to You. Send me help, and give me hope for today.

When you feel

Like a failure

Failure is something that happened. It isn't who you are.

  • My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.

    2 Corinthians 12:9
  • You are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works He prepared in advance for you.

    Ephesians 2:10
  • Do not gloat over me, my enemy; though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord is my light.

    Micah 7:8

Pray

Lord, I've fallen short again. Thank You that Your grace is enough. Lift me up and make Your strength show in my weakness.

When you feel

Full of doubt

Doubt isn't the opposite of faith. Honest questions brought to Jesus are a form of it.

  • A desperate father cried out to Jesus: I believe — help my unbelief!

    Mark 9:24
  • Jesus met Thomas in his doubt, showed him His wounds, and said: do not disbelieve, but believe.

    John 20:27–29
  • Have mercy on those who doubt.

    Jude 1:22

Pray

Jesus, I believe — help my unbelief. Meet me in my questions the way You met Thomas.

Underneath every feeling

Feelings change. Who God says you are doesn't. Read one truth a day until it holds.
